ABOUT US: PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE

March 2009

While the temperature may still suggest otherwise, spring is just around the corner. And what better evidence could we have that this is true than the multitude of spring festivals around the North? In keeping with the practice of Inuit communities living in accordance with seasonal cycles which are closely tied to the land, the celebration of spring is no exception. It is a time when communities look forward to the return of longer, sun filled days and going out on the land to fish and camp and spend precious time with their families. This is an important opportunity for children to learn from their elders many important skills necessary for survival including hunting, fishing, how to travel safely and the importance of being respectful of the land and its resources.

We are also reminded at this time of year of the upcoming anniversary of the formation of Nunavut. April 1, 2009 will mark the 10th anniversary of this important event in the history of Canada.

Canadian North has learned a great deal about survival and in the current economic times those skills will be as important as ever. We also know about treating our most important resources - our customers and our people - with respect in recognition of the important role they play in the well being of this company. Finally, we too have a rich history of celebrating important events and are proud to be the key sponsor of spring festivals across the North as well as a participant in the recognition of Nunavut's 10th birthday.

We invite you to join us in the historical celebration of the glory of spring and we thank you for your ongoing and loyal support of our business. We look forward to seeing you on board.

Travel well.
