ABOUT US: PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE

January/February 2009

We expect that 2009 will be a dynamic year for Canadian North. While the health of our economy is in question, we intend to ensure that the wellbeing of our employees, customers and the communities we serve is a certainty.

2009 will see the introduction of a health and wellness program for Canadian North employees. We see this as a very important initiative for the ongoing success of our airline. And, just as the health of our bodies is important, so is the wellbeing of our environment. To that end, we have also undertaken a corporate environmental stewardship initiative to be rolled out during the coming months. Reduction of fuel consumption and a focus on reusing, reducing and recycling will be key features of this program.

Recognizing that good health and success are linked will also lead us to ensuring that we maintain our participation in the many community initiatives centered on the well being of our Northern youth. We continue to support the Food First Foundation in recognition of the importance of good nutrition for learning. We are also involved in a variety of other community based, health focused sponsorships to ensure that children in the communities of the NWT and Nunavut are active and healthy.

Finally, in response to comments received from Canadian North passengers, we have also taken steps to promote the wellness of our customers in flight. While keeping the well loved tradition of serving Café Franklin on board our aircraft we have introduced a new, and we think improved version, which contains no alcohol. Addictions affect many people and their families throughout the North. No wellness program could be complete without making efforts to minimize any contribution to this problem.

We wish you every success in 2009 and look forward to seeing you on board.

Travel well.
Tracy Medve
